Postponing sentences of women who are pregnant or have a young child
(Rule 61, Chapter 1)
In Vietnam under Criminal Code 2015, Articles 67 – 68, a woman’s sentence can be postponed if she is pregnant or has a young child until her child reaches three years of age. If the woman is the sole income earner in the family and imprisonment will cause the family to face extreme hardship, the sentence may be deferred for up to one year unless committing an offence against national security or an extremely serious crime.
