Paris Declaration: World Congress on Justice for Children
On 28 May 2018, over 800 participants came together in Paris for the World Congress on Justice for Children, co-organised by Penal Reform International. What followed was three days of learning, sharing and discussion on juvenile and family justice between government representatives, civil society, academic institutions, other international and regional organisations and children and young people.
The Paris Declaration, the outcome document of the World Congress on Justice for Children, emphasises the importance of strengthening and improving justice systems for children. ItĀ makes a number of key recommendations to protect the rights of children, strengthen justice systems and prevent and respond to the involvement of children in violent extremism and other challenges.
