Lilongwe Declaration on Accessing Legal Aid in the Criminal Justice System in Africa
128 delegates from 26 countries including 21 African countries attended a conference in Lilongwe, Malawi, from 22-24 November 2004, to discuss legal aid services in the criminal justice systems in Africa.
After three days of deliberations, the Lilongwe Declaration on Accessing Legal Aid in the Criminal Justice System in Africa was adopted by consensus at the closure of the conference.
