Energising the Criminal Justice System In Malawi
The Paralegal Advisory Service (PAS) was established by PRI and the Malawi Prison Service to allow paralegals into prisons to educate prisoners on the criminal law and assist cases through the system more speedily.
The Service is based on three cornerstones: linking up of the criminal justice system by improving communication and co-ordination between the prisons, courts and police; helping prisoners to understand the law and how it affects them; and enabling prisoners to apply the law and help themselves. Achievement of these goals is based on partnership, collaboration and trust.
This leaflet describes the work of the PAS in Malawi in more detail, providing information on all aspects of the scheme.
