Discrimination Against Roma in Criminal Justice and Prison Systems in Romania
The current study is based on a review of existing literature, studies and documents that present violations of Rroma people’s rights in the criminal justice and prison systems in Central and Eastern Europe. This material highlights some of the issues related to discrimination against Rroma in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe an area encompassing Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania
and Slovakia. The focus is on the situation in Romania and also, where data from the region was available, on the situation in other countries of the region.
This research report explores the nature and prevalance of discrimination against the Roma people in criminal justice systems in Central and Eastern Europe.
