In recent years, the Open Society Justice Initiative, a program of the Open Society Foundations that uses law to protect and empower people around the world, has embarked on an effort to promote and support the legal empowerment of poor and vulnerable communities. In particular, this work focuses on developing, training, and institutionalizing the work of community-based paralegals in transitional, post-conflict, and developing countries.
