This film gives an insight into prison life for 174 men convicted and sentenced to death or to life imprisonment in Kyrgyzstan.
The film shows that as result of efforts made by the government and prison officials in Kyrgyzstan to firmly abolish the death sentence, many of the prisoners have had their death sentences commuted to life sentences. As a consequence of campaigning to abolish the death sentence, no one has been executed in the remand prison for nine years.
