Women in prison: mental health and well-being – a guide for prison staff

This guide is written to help understand how life in prison can affect a person’s mental health, with a focus on women. It describes how to recognise the signs of poor mental health and how best to respond. It also includes a checklist based on international human rights standards aimed to help with the implementation of key aspects of prison reform and advocacy initiatives in line with international standards and norms.

Input for the UN General Assembly Working Group on “Access to Justice” for Older Persons

Access to justice and discrimination issues affect older people throughout the criminal justice system at arrest and adjudication, detention, and transition back to the community. This submission provides input for the United Nations General Assembly Open-ended Working Group for the purpose of strengthening the protection of the human rights of older persons, specifically focusing on “Access to Justice” for older people in prisons.
