A Better Way to Protect All Children: Conference Report
From 12 – 16 November 2012 PRI attended and participated in the UNICEF Conference ‘A Better Way to Protect All Children’ held in New Delhi. The conference brought together over 160 policy makers, academics, practitioners and other experts from around the world to discuss the development and reform of child protection systems including exploring new ideas and outlining an agenda for future work in this area.
Child protection systems cover a wide range of issues, of which children in conflict or contact with the law is just one. The conference looked to demonstrate how the different strands can be brought together as an integrated system in order to best protect children in a holistic way through a coordinated inter-agency approach.
PRI chaired the conference session on ‘Children in contact with the justice system’ and presented our ten point planĀ for fair and effective justice for children.
The full conference report is now available and can be downloaded here, with reports of the session on children in contact with the justice system found on pages 47 – 48.
