UN Secretary General’s Report on a moratorium on the use of the death penalty: consultation process
In view of the UN Secretary General’s forthcoming report on the implementation of a moratorium on the use of the death penalty for the 67th session of the UN General Assembly (September 2012), civil society organisations were invited to share information covering relevant developments since 21 December 2010 on the implementation of a moratorium on the use of the death penalty as requested by UN General Assembly resolution 65/206 (21 December 2010).
PRI submitted a short briefing covering the following countries: Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco and Tunisia.
In partnership with Foundation for Human Rights Initiative (Kampala, Uganda), a second briefing was submitted on the implementation of a moratorium in East Africa (Kenya and Uganda).
And in partnership with Child Rights International Network (CRIN) and the International Juvenile Justice Observatory and the Child Rights International Network, a third briefing was submitted on children’s rights and the situation of the death penalty.
