In South Asia, we work primarily through partnerships with local civil society organisations that focus on criminal justice reform and support to vulnerable prisoners, particularly women and children.
Our partners in South Asia include:
The DOST Welfare Foundation in Pakistan. Read a case study of the achievements of the PRI/DOST partnership in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
PRAJA (Penal Reform and Justice Association) in India.
We also collaborate closely with the prison, probation, police officials and the judiciary. For example, in India, we are working with the Academy of Prisons and Correctional Administration (APCA) in Vellore to train prison and probation officials on the UN Bangkok Rules and improve the treatment of women offenders.
