In South Asia, we worked primarily through partnerships with local civil society organisations that focus on criminal justice reform and support for vulnerable prisoners, particularly women and children.
Our partners in South Asia included:
The DOST Welfare Foundation in Pakistan. Read a case study of the achievements of the PRI/DOST partnership in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
PRAJA (Penal Reform and Justice Association) in India.
We also collaborated closely with prison, probation and police officials and the judiciary. For example, in India, we worked with the Academy of Prisons and Correctional Administration (APCA) in Vellore to train prison and probation officials on the UN Bangkok Rules and improve the treatment of women offenders.
