Access to Justice and Penal Reform
The Second South Asia Regional Conference was held in Dhaka, Bangladesh, from 12-14 December 2002, organised by PRI and our regional partners and hosted by the Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust (BLAST).
The conference was attended by approximately 80 delegates and participants from Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Sri Lanka, who made a commitment to take the whole agenda of penal reform and access to justice, including juvenile justice and children’s rights, forward with greater impetus.
This report presents the recommendations that were proposed in relation to the themes that were afforded special focus at the conference: under-trials, women and children.
