Crime Commission 2012 – Bangkok Rules
(20 April 2012) Penal Reform International will be sending two delegates to the 21st Session of the UN Crime Commission and will be using the opportunity to promote the UN Rules for the Treatment of Women Prisoners and Non-custodial Measures for Women Offenders, adopted by the UN General Assembly on 21 December 2010 (Bangkok Rules).
PRI would like to draw the delegates’ attention to the fact that, whilst some states have begun to put the Rules into practice, there remains a great deal to be done to further their implementation.
It is with this in mind that PRI is soon to publish a Guidance Document and Index of Compliance, designed to lay out actions to be taken on a legislative and practical level and the actors involved.
