Published in 2004 Available in English 13 Minutes duration An overwhelming majority of African prisoners do not have access to a lawyer. But people at the beginning of the criminal justice process do not neccessarily need access to one. Trained paralegals, like paramedics, can provice first legal aid that is both appropriate and effective. Path to Justice follows the workdays of four paralegals from the Paralegal Advisory Service in Malawi. The film shows how they are able to provide legal education, advice and assistance on the frontline fo criminal justice. Path to Justice was directed by Pierre Kogan, and made possible with funding from Malawi Safety Security and Access to Justice (MaSSAJ), the Ford Foundation and the European Union.
