On Wednesday 4 January 2011 Penal Reform International , Middle East and North Africa Office and The Public Security Department (PSD) in Jordan, presented by its new juvenile Police Department, signed a memorandum of understanding to boost bilateral cooperation and promote the use of restorative justice. The MOU aimstoenhance the use of restorative justice in Jordan andto equip the Juvenile Police Departmentwith the international and regional expertisein international standards and build the capacity of the department through intensive training that provides the skills and techniques needed to work with children in conflict with the law. In addition a national awareness campaignto promotethe services provided bythe Departmentwas launched.
This MOU comes within the PRI action plan to implement its regional juvenile justice project targeting three countries, including Jordan. supported by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs .
